WORKSHOPS ~ A Foundation of Education

It is our experience that when you understand, in general terms, how a legal process works, and where you fit within that process, you more likely to be more confident about your choices and make better decisions.  Therefore, we provide a “fundamentals” Workshop to teach you about various estate planning tools and typical situations where they work best using easy to remember stories to illustrate our points.  In this way, we don’t bore or confuse you with complicated legalese and you can make better sense about how the stories’ lessons might apply to you.  Although the stories are often entertaining, they serve a bigger purpose because they give us a common vocabulary to ensure we are talking about the same things.  For instance, our story about “the wagon” in our initial Workshop creates a good mental image of how trusts work and the duties a Trustee has regarding trust assets and beneficiaries.  This and other stories make it easier for you to envision whether a planning strategy makes sense for you.

The Essentials Workshop also helps you make the best use of your time at our first private consultation with you.  We recommend but do not require that you attend this initial Workshop.  If you prefer or if your schedule is tight, you can set an initial office consultation to discuss your particular circumstances.  We have other workshops on various topics throughout the year to build on your knowledge and to share what you have learned with those who will act for you when you cannot act for yourself.   For instance, our SUCCESSOR TRUSTEE TRAINING WORKSHOP is designed to help your successor agents learn about their duties before a crisis occurs.

Click on the LEARNING CENTER tab for our current WORKSHOP SCHEDULE where you can also register on-line or by sending us an email. Call our office at 216-861-6160 to schedule an initial consultation if you cannot attend the initial Workshop.
