Signature Meeting
After the DESIGN MEETING, we get busy behind the scenes drafting and organizing your legal directives and creating a table of your assets. These directives are more than mere paper documents. They are the physical evidence of your intent and instructions to "speak" for you when you can't communicate your wishes. Your directives are also part of your legacy, in some respects. They are evidence of a legacy of care and that you are a person who cared enough to take steps to ensure that those who would be responsible for you and your estate are authorized to act rather than being forced to resort to a court process for authority.
Many people might think, "What's the big deal with signing documents?" However, perfectly drafted directives can fail to achieve your goals if they are not signed following legal formalities or if they are vulnerable to challenges by disgruntled family members on the basis of the signor's incapacity, undue influence or duress. Therefore, we take great care to ensure we "protect your plan" by adhering to signature protocols to eliminate any questions about incapacity, undue influence or duress.
In the SIGNATURE MEETING, we review each legal directive with you before you sign. We also review your "ASSET COORDINATION TABLE" with you. The Table lists all of your assets and our recommendations about how titles and beneficiary designations for each asset should be coordinated with your directives. Click on the tab to the left to read more about the ASSET COORDINATION phase of your plan.
