ASSET COORDINATION
A perfectly drafted Will or Trust will not achieve your objectives unless they are coordinated with your asset titles and beneficiary designations and remain coordinated as you acquire new assets. For instance, your Will or Trust might carry well-drafted and extensive instructions providing for a special needs beneficiary at your death. However, those instructions will be thwarted if all of your assets are “payable-on-death” directly to survivors and bypass your Will or Trust.
We believe it is imperative that you understand which directive controls each and every asset you own. Asset coordination should also involve decisions about your disability and asset protection needs. This is why we create the Asset Coordination Table to guide you in aligning your asset titles and beneficiary designations with the legal directives we create for you. You can perform the coordination steps yourself by following the instructions on the Table or authorize our office to complete the tasks for you.
